today I did the Nike + Half-Marathon virtually .. and while not a good time.. I finished and really that is all that matters.

Welcome to Seattle

Seattle is a diverse and beautiful city that has a lot to offer in a small package.  It is not a large city, if you want you can easily walk from Pioneer Square to Seattle Center  (the length of the downtown core) in a little over an hour. There are some hills, and they are mostly East and West, the North and South routes are pretty flat, or have gradual hills. Generally, locals prefer hat and hoods to umbrellas, but it does rain much in the summers. Wear comfy shoes, especially if you will be walking around the city. Let's start with how to get around.  A single comprehensive transportation system, is not something you will find here, it is a piecemeal collection of random transportation options. Fall 09 Schedule

I think I have finally finished my Fall Schedule. This year I added colors for each network. Thankfully, I get the east coast feed for a bunch of channels so, I get those channels 3 hours early- makes it much easier to avoid conflicts. The new shows are bolded. If there is something I HAVE to watch let me know in the comments. I am pretty happy with the schedule.. busy but not too crowded. A good deal of the cable shows will be gone in October and then back for a bit in Dec/Jan- so it looks way more crowded then it really is. Now, I need to have a talk with TIVO and put the shows all in the right order to avoid conflicts.

13.1 miles of hell

Well not really.. but it was VERY hot.. did I mention the heat.. yeah bad. My goal was under 3 hours and I did it in 2:34 so I was really happy with the time. But my body revolted a few days later and the pain was firmly settled. Took me a while to recover. The Seafair Marathon and half-marathon crossed 520 bridge, which was the main reason I attempted the race. It had one really big hill between 7 and 9 mile mark, I honestly wanted to stop, but I did get my second wind and was able to finish. They really did not have good water supply, and at one station they had no cups, so they would pour water into people's mouths.. it was an experience. Two women joined me at mile 9 and kept me talking and my mind off the road and that helped quite a bit. (Hence the pic at 11) I did manage to run across the line and completed the day with a visit from Gin and a movie and lunch with Kurt. Over all not a bad way to celebrate the 4th day of being 40.
