another half marathon.. done

today I did the Nike + Half-Marathon virtually .. and while not a good time.. I finished and really that is all that matters.

Travel- it ain't that easy

A few friends have suggested that I write a travel blog of my adventures in Business Travel.. Today was my first day traveling to Baton Rouge for work. Things so far have not gone to plan. I had to leave home a few hours early, because I had a series of conference calls that would cross over that 2 hour before flight mark, and I knew I had to get through security, without being in the middle of a conference call. So, after call 1 ended, I had 10 mins to get through security and hop on call #2. When I went through the handy new body scanners, the chick at TSA had me drop my ID in the box with my shoes and plastic bags of liquids. Welcome to Seattle

Seattle is a diverse and beautiful city that has a lot to offer in a small package.  It is not a large city, if you want you can easily walk from Pioneer Square to Seattle Center  (the length of the downtown core) in a little over an hour. There are some hills, and they are mostly East and West, the North and South routes are pretty flat, or have gradual hills. Generally, locals prefer hat and hoods to umbrellas, but it does rain much in the summers. Wear comfy shoes, especially if you will be walking around the city. Let's start with how to get around.  A single comprehensive transportation system, is not something you will find here, it is a piecemeal collection of random transportation options. It is worth it to get an ORCA Card and load a little money on it, they are refillable. The bus system is cash only, monorail, Seattle Street Car, Ferry, light rail accept Credit cards. Ties Ties Ties

About a month ago I purchased some art work - a set of stencils, from a young artist named Cody Blomberg. I had never purchased original art like this before and it was pretty modern looking so of course I was a bit nervous. But I loved the subject of the stencils, and I loved the texture of the pieces.  Cody had give me a slip of paper that had the instructions that the stencils represent - How to tie a Windsor knot. Figure 9-46. Tying a Windsor knot. Start with the wide end on the right side about 12 inches longer than the narrow end.  Make a loop then bring the wide end around and behind as shown. Pass the wide end over to the back, then bring it across the front, then under again. Finish by slipping the side end through the loop in front. Tighten the knot and shape carefully.
